Matthew 14:22&23
"22 And straightway Jesus constrained His disciples to get into a ship, and to go before Him unto the other side, while He sent the multitudes away.
23 And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up into a mountain apart to pray: and when the evening was come, He was there alone."
We are studying Experiencing GOD. There are many experiences recorded in Holy Scriptures. By learning from these writings we can know GOD better. In the process we are learning about ourselves too. The last few days we looked at the verses about the aspiring follower who would not give up the pleasures of this life for the rewards in the next life. As people in our culture we need to meditate on those verses. We too have "great possessions" and we will have a tendency to hold on to material things rather than focusing on our Lord and Savior; Jesus Christ. Don't get bummed out though, Jesus also taught us; "with God ALL THINGS are POSSIBLE."
Today we return to the Gospel of Matthew to gain futher insights from Jesus. We begin where Jesus and the Disciples have fed the multitude. Jesus has arranged to have some quiet time for Himself; "And straightway Jesus constrained His disciples to get into a ship, and to go before Him unto the other side, while He sent the multitudes away. And when He had sent the multitudes away, He went up into a mountain APART to pray: and when the evening was come, He was there ALONE." If the Son of God needs some time alone; we all need some time alone. To clear our thinking and recharge our batteries. This is a moment we see Jesus taking care of Himself. We need to be sure we don't neglect ourselves. Especially when things are hectic like they are here in this moment.
