"forgive them" -GOD

Luke 23:34&35
"34 Then said Jesus, Father, forgive them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots.
35 And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided Him, saying, He saved others; let Him save himself, if He be Christ, the chosen of God."

We are studying GOD SIGHTINGS. It should surprise us to see GOD is tortured and murdered by His creation! Jesus On The Cross! This is NOT the place we expect to see the Creator of the Universe; being executed along side common criminals. Like He was guilty too, deserving the severest treatment and ultimately DEATH! Beaten to near death, stripped of His clothing and hung up on display for everyone to watch as He takes His last breath; this is GOD!

Just look at this contrast; "Then said Jesus, Father, FORGIVE them; for they know not what they do. And they parted his raiment, and cast lots." Jesus is asking for forgiveness for these people as they murder Him. While He is doing that, they are tearing up His clothes and gambling over the ownership of them! While the person is dying on the cross they engage in this petty and trivial exercise. 

But, wait, there's more; "And the people stood beholding. And the rulers also with them derided Him, saying, He saved others; let Him save himself, if He be Christ, the chosen of God." IF He is the Messiah; He can save Himself! This was their test for GOD. If He is really GOD; He will pass our test! Which is an interesting way to approach GOD, although EXACTLY the opposite way we need to come near GOD. Unfortunately, that is still the way people often approach GOD today.

Elisha’s example

I will make you

Matthew 4:19&20 "19 And He saith unto them, Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men. 20 And they straightway left their nets, and followed Him." In our "Follow Me" series, we study Jesus calling His disciples in the Gospel of Matthew. By the Sea of Galilee, a thriving fishing hub, Jesus saw Simon and Andrew casting nets as humble fishermen. His disciples were ordinary workers, not wealthy or educated elites. Jesus approached them and said, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men." Remarkably, they immediately left their jobs to follow Him. This brief exchange conveys a profound truth: Jesus says, "I will make you." Only God can transform us to accomplish His purpose. We should often pray, "Help me, God," seeking Jesus' guidance to follow His plan for our lives.
