2 Samuel 12:3&4
"3 But the poor man had nothing, save one little ewe lamb, which he had bought and nourished up: and it grew up together with him, and with his children; it did eat of his own meat, and drank of his own cup, and lay in his bosom, and was unto him as a daughter.
4 And there came a traveller unto the rich man, and he spared to take of his own flock and of his own herd, to dress for the wayfaring man that was come unto him; but took the poor man's lamb, and dressed it for the man that was come to him."
God doesn't always reveal Himself to us in "God Sightings." Sometimes GOD speaks to us through others! The prophet Nathan was sent to David to speak to him about his wicked deeds. David was a very powerful king who misused his authority. He let his lust guide him and then conspired to have one of his best generals killed to cover for his own sins. David used his power to hurt others. Which is VERY BAD.
In today's verses, Nathan, carefully tells a story that perfectly describes what king David has done but it is just different enough to where David doesn't recognize it; "But the poor man had nothing, save one little ewe lamb... and lay in his bosom, and was unto him AS A DAUGHTER." Many of us have pets that we think of as family. Possibly even "fur babies." This was a "wool baby," this poor man really LOVED.
"And there came a traveller unto the rich man, and he spared to take of his own flock and of his own herd, to dress for the wayfaring man that was come unto him; but took the poor man's lamb, and dressed it for the man that was come to him." The rich man takes the poor man's "wool baby" and slaughtered her for a meal with the traveller!!! It's a shocking story!!
