in the wind

1 Kings 19:11
"And he said, Go forth, and stand upon the mount before the LORD. And, behold, the LORD passed by, and a great and strong wind rent the mountains, and brake in pieces the rocks before the LORD; but the LORD was not in the wind: and after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was not in the earthquake:"

We are studying "God Sightings." We have studied the Holy Trinity being present at Jesus's Baptism with John the Baptizer, Moses at the burning bush, and last week GOD sending the prophet Nathan to tell King David about GOD'S judgment. This week we will study GOD showing up on the WIND! 

Think about WHAT would it take for you to believe you are in the presence of GOD? Fire? Earthquake?Wind? ELIJAH experienced GOD on numerous occasions. God's presence can be overwhelming. In the Old and New Testaments we see people encountering GOD. Is this what we hope and dream will happen for us? "...after the wind an earthquake; but the LORD was NOT in the earthquake:" Do you want the wind to howl and the ground to shake?

God’s patience

2 Peter 3:9 "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." God did not immediately punish King Solomon when he allowed his foreign wives to build altars for false gods. Despite multiple compromises, God remained patient. Over time, Solomon’s endorsement of idolatry defied God’s covenant, leading to divine judgment, including the loss of the kingdom for his son. Some mistake God’s patience for indifference or inaction, but He follows His plan in His timing. If our nation, culture, church, or we ourselves stray like Solomon, we can repent and return to God’s path. And, should do so sooner than later! Amen!
