Exodus 3:5&6
"5 And He said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is holy ground.
6 Moreover He said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God."
We are studying "God Sightings." We have returned
one of the most famous "God Sightings" of all; Moses at the burning bush! God called to Moses from the burning bush by name. Moses was witnessing FIRE that no person started. Moses heard a voice that was NOT spoken by human lips. Moses did not find another person present here BUT out of the flames and the heat he was being addressed by NAME!!!
In today's verses God tells Moses he stands on Holy Ground; "And He said, Draw not nigh hither: put off thy shoes from off thy feet, for the place whereon thou standest is HOLY GROUND. Moreover He said, I am the God of thy father, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob. And Moses hid his face; for he was afraid to look upon God."
Moses was afraid to look upon God, even though this was only a representation of GOD; fire. Even this symbol was too much to BEHOLD! Being is the presence of GOD is too much for sinful creatures as Moses, or you and me! This is the GOD of the living come to set His people FREE! This is the GOD of our ancestors, who honors His covenant and blesses His creation and saves His people!
