blind spot

2 Samuel 12:5&6
"5 And David's anger was greatly kindled against the man; and he said to Nathan, As the LORD liveth, the man that hath done this thing shall surely die:
6 And he shall restore the lamb fourfold, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity." 

Sometimes GOD speaks to us through others! The prophet Nathan was sent to David to speak to him about his wicked deeds. Nathan, carefully told a story that perfectly described what king David had done only camouflaged so David didn't recognize it! 

The rich man takes the poor man's "wool baby" and slaughtered her for a meal with the traveller!!! It's a shocking story!! In today's verses David responded with indignation; "And David's anger was greatly kindled against the man; and he said to Nathan, As the LORD liveth, the man that hath done this thing shall SURELY DIE: And he shall restore the lamb FOURFOLD, because he did this thing, and because he had no pity."

NO PITY! David had worked as a shepherd, he knew the care and the time needed to raise sheep. His sympathy for the poor man in this story was GREAT! He is ready to have NO MERCY for the rich man that stole from the poor man. The punishment David recommended was MORE severe than the case deserved. Yet, David's self awareness is demonstrating a MAJOR BLIND SPOT. Lucky for him GOD sent Nathan to open his eyes...

Elisha’s example

God’s patience

2 Peter 3:9 "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." God did not immediately punish King Solomon when he allowed his foreign wives to build altars for false gods. Despite multiple compromises, God remained patient. Over time, Solomon’s endorsement of idolatry defied God’s covenant, leading to divine judgment, including the loss of the kingdom for his son. Some mistake God’s patience for indifference or inaction, but He follows His plan in His timing. If our nation, culture, church, or we ourselves stray like Solomon, we can repent and return to God’s path. And, should do so sooner than later! Amen!
