many witnesses

John 11:17-19
17 Then when Jesus came, He found that he had lain in the grave four days already.
18 Now Bethany was nigh unto Jerusalem, about fifteen furlongs off:
19 And many of the Jews came to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother.

On this occasion Jesus plans to help His friends in a way that will BLOW their MINDS!!! Jesus's friend Lazarus was ill, his sisters sent for our Lord and Savior to HELP! Only Lazarus dies and is buried before Jesus even arrives!

They are only two miles from Jerusalem, in Bethany, on the eastern slope of the Mount of Olives. People from Jerusalem come here often and many know the family. Today's verse; "And MANY of the Jews CAME to Martha and Mary, to comfort them concerning their brother." Jews from Jerusalem have come to comfort and support the sisters. Some of these people would have opposed our Lord. Some might have even tried to stone Him in chapter ten and then tried to take Him by force. Lazarus' family was one of position and substance and they had many friends among the higher ranks of the Jews. This is a big crowd of credible witnesses for the miracle Jesus is about to preform...

God’s patience

2 Peter 3:9 "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." God did not immediately punish King Solomon when he allowed his foreign wives to build altars for false gods. Despite multiple compromises, God remained patient. Over time, Solomon’s endorsement of idolatry defied God’s covenant, leading to divine judgment, including the loss of the kingdom for his son. Some mistake God’s patience for indifference or inaction, but He follows His plan in His timing. If our nation, culture, church, or we ourselves stray like Solomon, we can repent and return to God’s path. And, should do so sooner than later! Amen!
