CALM

Luke 8:24
"And they came to Him, and awoke Him, saying, Master, Master, we perish. Then He arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and they ceased, and there was a calm."

What was a very pleasant afternoon, sailing with Jesus, has turned into a horrifying tragedy as the wind blows, the waves begin to crash! The tumultuous water begins to sink the ship! Even the experienced fishermen sailing this boat are scared! Many are certain they are about to DIE!!!

Today's verse; "And they came to Him, and awoke Him, saying, Master, Master, we perish. Then He arose, and rebuked the wind and the raging of the water: and THEY CEASED, and there was a CALM." 

The Disciples were desperate. It's remarkable that anyone could sleep through this life threatening event. And, more amazing still, Jesus reprimanded the weather. He sharply criticized the wind and water. And, get this; it OBEYED! Whatever He said the result was "CALM." No more wind. No more crashing waves. No more danger.

Acts 2:7&8 "7 And they were all amazed and marvelled, saying one to another, Behold, are not all these which speak Galilaeans? 8 And how hear we every man in our own tongue, wherein we were born?" The Holy Ghost is the only way this happens. They were very surprised to be hundreds and, some cases, thousands of miles from "home" and hearing their language spoken! It was astonishing! Appreciate that these devout Jewish people whose families had been carried away from Israel generations before. Taken in captivity by armies that invaded and conquered Israel.
