Matthew 6:31&32
"31 Therefore take no thought, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed?
32 (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father knoweth that ye have need of all these things."
This is from the Sermon on the Mount as recorded in the Gospel of Matthew, chapter six. Jesus is teaching everyone to not worry or be anxious. Jesus says GOD takes care of the wild birds flying free. And, the fields are clothed in wildflowers, more beautiful than the most expensive FASHION! GOD provids exceedingly and abundantly! When Jesus said "O ye of little faith?" He was not saying people were faithless or unbelieving. Jesus was pointing out that our trust is weak. We have moments of anxiety and worry. Jesus recommends FAITH.
Jesus begins to refine His point, in today's verses; "Therefore take NO THOUGHT, saying, What shall we eat? or, What shall we drink? or, Wherewithal shall we be clothed? (For after all these things do the Gentiles seek:) for your heavenly Father KNOWETH that ye have need of all these things." How much of your prayer live is devoted to praying for food, fashion and other things that you NEED? How often are your prayers motivated by worry and anxiety?? Do we not understand the promises of God???
Our heavenly Father knows that we have needs. Our heavenly Father is far better acquainted with all our wants than we know ourselves! We can rely on the love and wisdom of GOD our Father in heaven!
The good parts of these daily devotionals are inspired by the sermon at Holy Ghost Lutheran Church in Fredericksburg Texas. You can watch it by following this link... https://youtu.be/HMHPiLHiCK4
