God's abundance

John 21:4-6
"4 But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus.
5 Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered Him, No.
6 And He said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes."

God lifts us always as "...with wings as EAGLES;" And we should always praise and celebrate our LORD! We return to the Gospel of John where we join events AFTER Easter morning. The Disciples were at a loss for what to do next. So, many of them went back to what they knew best; FISHING! They fished ALL NIGHT LONG and caught NOTHING. They feel defeated; the Messiah has come and gone and now they can't even fish! They know how to fish! This was their livelihood!!! Why can't they catch fish tonight???

Jesus has other plans for them, today's verses; "But when the morning was now come, Jesus stood on the shore: but the disciples knew not that it was Jesus. Then Jesus saith unto them, Children, have ye any meat? They answered Him, No." This has to be a deja vu moment for many of them. This was the same way they met Jesus! But, this is the last thing they are expecting. They feel like they have lost everything. They don't know what's happening. Their teacher and friend was arrested and executed. Then He came BACK from death. They don't know what to do and on top of it all they can't catch fish???

"And He said unto them, Cast the net on the right side of the ship, and ye shall find. They cast therefore, and now they were not able to draw it for the multitude of fishes." Jesus plays along and directs them where to fish and they caught more then they counted on. God supplies faith hope and encouragement. God provides abundance even in our scarcity. God is always abundant in His provision.

I will make you

Matthew 4:19&20 "19 And He saith unto them, Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men. 20 And they straightway left their nets, and followed Him." In our "Follow Me" series, we study Jesus calling His disciples in the Gospel of Matthew. By the Sea of Galilee, a thriving fishing hub, Jesus saw Simon and Andrew casting nets as humble fishermen. His disciples were ordinary workers, not wealthy or educated elites. Jesus approached them and said, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men." Remarkably, they immediately left their jobs to follow Him. This brief exchange conveys a profound truth: Jesus says, "I will make you." Only God can transform us to accomplish His purpose. We should often pray, "Help me, God," seeking Jesus' guidance to follow His plan for our lives.

God’s patience

2 Peter 3:9 "The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." God did not immediately punish King Solomon when he allowed his foreign wives to build altars for false gods. Despite multiple compromises, God remained patient. Over time, Solomon’s endorsement of idolatry defied God’s covenant, leading to divine judgment, including the loss of the kingdom for his son. Some mistake God’s patience for indifference or inaction, but He follows His plan in His timing. If our nation, culture, church, or we ourselves stray like Solomon, we can repent and return to God’s path. And, should do so sooner than later! Amen!
