The Spirit of God like a DOVE

Matthew 3:15&16
"15 And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered Him.
16 And Jesus, when He was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon Him:"

After Jesus was born Mary and Joseph traveled to the Temple in Jerusalem to make the sin offering required by the Jewish tradition. Mary and Joseph brought a pair of TURTLEDOVES. The Holy Family wanted to fulfil all requirements of righteousness, and to show obedience to the law.

Some thirty years later the other Father shall bestow His DOVE upon His Son. Jesus is stepping out of the wilderness and into His public ministry. There is a large crowd of witnesses here. Many have come to hear John the Baptizer speak and maybe even get baptized by him. John is a prophet filled with the Holy Ghost from when he was in his mother’s womb.

"And Jesus answering said unto him, Suffer it to be so now: for thus it becometh us to fulfil all righteousness. Then he suffered Him." John did not feel he was worthy to be baptizing the Messiah, but Jesus insisted. "And Jesus, when He was BAPTIZED, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto Him, and He saw the Spirit of God descending like a DOVE, and lighting upon Him:" This is GOD'S offering of a dove showing that Jesus is the one, His Son, The Messiah! All witnessed by a multitude on the banks of the Jordan River.

I will make you

Matthew 4:19&20 "19 And He saith unto them, Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men. 20 And they straightway left their nets, and followed Him." In our "Follow Me" series, we study Jesus calling His disciples in the Gospel of Matthew. By the Sea of Galilee, a thriving fishing hub, Jesus saw Simon and Andrew casting nets as humble fishermen. His disciples were ordinary workers, not wealthy or educated elites. Jesus approached them and said, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men." Remarkably, they immediately left their jobs to follow Him. This brief exchange conveys a profound truth: Jesus says, "I will make you." Only God can transform us to accomplish His purpose. We should often pray, "Help me, God," seeking Jesus' guidance to follow His plan for our lives.

it's over

Revelation 7:17 "For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes." Heaven. After the "great tribulation." After we are purified and justified through the atoning work of Christ. We will stand in front of the Lamb and wave palm branches in celebration of victory over death and sin.  We will be with GOD. God will protect us and provide for us. We will be caught up in worshiping Him day and night. Our generous GOD keeps giving even in the afterlife. The tribulations of life will be over. "and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes." Your days of crying will be OVER! Your loneliness will be OVER!  Your failure will be OVER! Your sickness will be OVER! Your suffering will be OVER! Your cup will be OVERFLOWING with HIS mercy and love. Nothing can separate you from the Love of Christ. Keep your "eyes" on Jesus. He is your key. ...

you are witnesses

Luke 24:48 "And ye are witnesses of these things." In Epic Fails—God Prevails, we see people make big mistakes—yet God uses our shortcomings to advance His plan. God is Amazing! Peter did much right (even walking on water!) but epically failed by denying Jesus. Post-resurrection, Jesus showed how His suffering, death, and resurrection fulfilled Old Testament prophecies. Despite years with Him and deep Scripture knowledge, the disciples couldn't grasp it alone—they needed divine help. True understanding requires God's intervention; human insight falls short. At Pentecost, the Holy Spirit ignited Peter's faith; he preached, and thousands believed. On Damascus road, Jesus converted Paul, who evangelized and wrote most of the New Testament. You and I can be used in God’s plan too. With Jesus’ love inside, we are empowered to stand for Him. Like empowered Peter! Like empowered Paul! Like countless empowered saints! Like the empowered you! Today's verse affirms the ...
