Mark 14:30&31
"30 And Jesus saith unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this day, even in this night, before the cock crow twice, thou shalt deny Me thrice.
31 But he spake the more vehemently, If I should die with Thee, I will not deny Thee in any wise. Likewise also said they all."

Right after the Last Supper Jesus tells His Disciples what will happen. They are about to witness one of their own betray Jesus. They will experience TERROR as the authorities crack down on them hard. They will lose confidence and hope. They will FLEE the scene in all directions. Fearing the worst; that they too will be arrested and subjected to the punishment, pain and possibly death at the hands of the authorities.

To this the Apostle Peter says; "NOT ME!" Peter proclaimed that he would stand up to the authorities and never leave Jesus's side. Peter is the Rock! He is the foundation that the church will be built upon! Peter is the strongest!! Peter is the BEST!!!

Today's verses; "And Jesus saith unto him, Verily I say unto thee, That this day, even in this night, BEFORE the cock crow twice, THOU shalt DENY ME thrice." This is the Son of God telling His best follower exactly what he is gonna do! And, Peter refused to believe it. In this moment Peter cannot comprehend any scenario in which he could or would betray his Lord and Savior.

The strength of Peter's conviction even inspired his fellow Disciples; "But he spake the more vehemently, If I should die with Thee, I will not deny Thee in any wise. Likewise also SAID THEY ALL." They have come through a lot together. Feeding the multitude. Healing the sick. Calming the storm. Raising the dead. Nothing is going to tear them apart! They are Jesus followers and they are PROUD.

PRIDE tempts us to be self-sufficient rather than trusting God. PRIDE lets us have a high opinion of our own dignity, importance, merit, strength and superiority.  We are ALL guilty of PRIDE. The center of "sin" and the center of "pride" is "I."

I will make you

Matthew 4:19&20 "19 And He saith unto them, Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men. 20 And they straightway left their nets, and followed Him." In our "Follow Me" series, we study Jesus calling His disciples in the Gospel of Matthew. By the Sea of Galilee, a thriving fishing hub, Jesus saw Simon and Andrew casting nets as humble fishermen. His disciples were ordinary workers, not wealthy or educated elites. Jesus approached them and said, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men." Remarkably, they immediately left their jobs to follow Him. This brief exchange conveys a profound truth: Jesus says, "I will make you." Only God can transform us to accomplish His purpose. We should often pray, "Help me, God," seeking Jesus' guidance to follow His plan for our lives.

it's over

Revelation 7:17 "For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes." Heaven. After the "great tribulation." After we are purified and justified through the atoning work of Christ. We will stand in front of the Lamb and wave palm branches in celebration of victory over death and sin.  We will be with GOD. God will protect us and provide for us. We will be caught up in worshiping Him day and night. Our generous GOD keeps giving even in the afterlife. The tribulations of life will be over. "and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes." Your days of crying will be OVER! Your loneliness will be OVER!  Your failure will be OVER! Your sickness will be OVER! Your suffering will be OVER! Your cup will be OVERFLOWING with HIS mercy and love. Nothing can separate you from the Love of Christ. Keep your "eyes" on Jesus. He is your key. ...

you are witnesses

Luke 24:48 "And ye are witnesses of these things." In Epic Fails—God Prevails, we see people make big mistakes—yet God uses our shortcomings to advance His plan. God is Amazing! Peter did much right (even walking on water!) but epically failed by denying Jesus. Post-resurrection, Jesus showed how His suffering, death, and resurrection fulfilled Old Testament prophecies. Despite years with Him and deep Scripture knowledge, the disciples couldn't grasp it alone—they needed divine help. True understanding requires God's intervention; human insight falls short. At Pentecost, the Holy Spirit ignited Peter's faith; he preached, and thousands believed. On Damascus road, Jesus converted Paul, who evangelized and wrote most of the New Testament. You and I can be used in God’s plan too. With Jesus’ love inside, we are empowered to stand for Him. Like empowered Peter! Like empowered Paul! Like countless empowered saints! Like the empowered you! Today's verse affirms the ...
