King Darius

Daniel 6:13&14
"13 Then answered they and said before the king, That Daniel, which is of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth not thee, O king, nor the decree that thou hast signed, but maketh his petition three times a day.
14 Then the king, when he heard these words, was sore displeased with himself, and set his heart on Daniel to deliver him: and he laboured till the going down of the sun to deliver him."

This week we are focused on the king of beast; the LION! We are going to go with the Prophet Daniel into the LION'S den!! Daniel is unique in the Old Testament; he is the only figure with a completely positive record of his actions. And his FAITHFUL service to the Lord in a land and culture hostile to him, makes him all the MORE remarkable.

Daniel lived through the 70 years of captivity of his people. He raised through the ranks of his captors to become one of only three administrators over the kingdom. Daniel was favored by King Darius. So, much so that others in the King's court grew jealous and plotted to get Daniel executed! They coerced King Darius into making a law that would execute anyone worshiping anything other than the king himself. Daniel's enemies caught him is the act of praying to God and are seeking his execution! It's the Law. Daniel must be executed! He must be cast into The DEN of LIONS!!! According to the law of the Medes and Persians, which cannot be changed!

Today's verses; "Then answered they and said before the king, That Daniel, which is of the children of the captivity of Judah, regardeth NOT THEE, O king, nor the decree that THOU hast signed, but maketh his petition three times a day." These people in the King's court are making the case that Daniel MUST BE executed. He is a prisioner and he is disobeying the King's orders. We cannot tolerate THIS!

But, King Darius had his own mind; "Then the king, when he heard these words, was sore DISPLEASED with himself, and set his heart on Daniel to DELIVER him: and he laboured till the going down of the sun to DELIVER him." The King is looking for anyway he can get out of executing Daniel. There has to be a way! ? ! ? Darius is as good as any pagan king can be. He wants justice and NOT this travesty that is unfolding before his eyes. We know exactly how King Darius feels if we objectively look at our justice system today.

I will make you

Matthew 4:19&20 "19 And He saith unto them, Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men. 20 And they straightway left their nets, and followed Him." In our "Follow Me" series, we study Jesus calling His disciples in the Gospel of Matthew. By the Sea of Galilee, a thriving fishing hub, Jesus saw Simon and Andrew casting nets as humble fishermen. His disciples were ordinary workers, not wealthy or educated elites. Jesus approached them and said, "Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men." Remarkably, they immediately left their jobs to follow Him. This brief exchange conveys a profound truth: Jesus says, "I will make you." Only God can transform us to accomplish His purpose. We should often pray, "Help me, God," seeking Jesus' guidance to follow His plan for our lives.

it's over

Revelation 7:17 "For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes." Heaven. After the "great tribulation." After we are purified and justified through the atoning work of Christ. We will stand in front of the Lamb and wave palm branches in celebration of victory over death and sin.  We will be with GOD. God will protect us and provide for us. We will be caught up in worshiping Him day and night. Our generous GOD keeps giving even in the afterlife. The tribulations of life will be over. "and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes." Your days of crying will be OVER! Your loneliness will be OVER!  Your failure will be OVER! Your sickness will be OVER! Your suffering will be OVER! Your cup will be OVERFLOWING with HIS mercy and love. Nothing can separate you from the Love of Christ. Keep your "eyes" on Jesus. He is your key. ...

you are witnesses

Luke 24:48 "And ye are witnesses of these things." In Epic Fails—God Prevails, we see people make big mistakes—yet God uses our shortcomings to advance His plan. God is Amazing! Peter did much right (even walking on water!) but epically failed by denying Jesus. Post-resurrection, Jesus showed how His suffering, death, and resurrection fulfilled Old Testament prophecies. Despite years with Him and deep Scripture knowledge, the disciples couldn't grasp it alone—they needed divine help. True understanding requires God's intervention; human insight falls short. At Pentecost, the Holy Spirit ignited Peter's faith; he preached, and thousands believed. On Damascus road, Jesus converted Paul, who evangelized and wrote most of the New Testament. You and I can be used in God’s plan too. With Jesus’ love inside, we are empowered to stand for Him. Like empowered Peter! Like empowered Paul! Like countless empowered saints! Like the empowered you! Today's verse affirms the ...
