Genesis 2:17
"But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die."
Last week we studied how our FAITH and church is Built Upon Easter and that incredible event. We can't celebrate it enough! This week we are studying how Easter was Built Upon Promises; God's promises. There are well over seven thousand promises from God in the Holy Bible. God is the promise keeper. We call the sections of the Holy Scriptures; "Old Testament" and "New Testament." A "testament" is "Something that serves as tangible proof or evidence."
We must go back to the very beginning, in Genesis chapter two verse seventeen to read one of God's first promises; "But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it: for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die." Here we get introduced to the idea that everyone who break God's law will recive death and punishment in Hell. All of that is NOT contained in this verse. As life and events unfold from here everyone learns what it means to be obedient to GOD. It's obvious that no one can do it. We can't keep God's Law no matter how hard we try. We need MORE THAN LAWS...
