Jesus DID

John 1:1-3
"1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made." 

Jesus's work on the cross gives us VICTORY in heaven for all eternity! We want to spread this Gospel message during Lent and always. We want to Lift High the Cross, always proclaiming Jesus's name. Today we are turning to first verses in the Gospel of John. It is an interesting contrast to the Gospels that begin with genealogy detailing the family tree of Jesus. Here in John's writing we are taken all the way back to the beginning. Before there was even time. This is a challenging idea for us; we live in time and can't imagine life outside of time. Before time the Word was there. 

"In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was WITH God, and the Word WAS God. The same was in the beginning with God. All things were made by Him; and without Him was not any thing made that was made." 

With and Was. Separate and the same. Part of the Holy Trinity. This a mystery we can get a hold of even if we not able to fully understand it. This is SO foundational it helps us understand so much more that Jesus DID; healing, making the weather obey, raise the dead. Things we can only imagine.

Luke 1:51-53 "51 He hath shewed strength with His arm; He hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts. 52 He hath put down the mighty from their seats, and exalted them of low degree. 53 He hath filled the hungry with good things; and the rich he hath sent empty away." This is Mary's Magnificat. Beginning with verse forty-six Mary's responds to Elizabeth’s blessing is EPIC! In this poem Mary praises GOD for His blessing to her and His faithfulness to Israel.  Mary's Magnificat also highlights a series of reversals in which the proud are humbled and the humble are exalted! Which we read in today's verses; "He hath shewed STRENGTH with His arm; He hath scattered the proud in the imagination of their hearts.
