Luke 15:14-16
"14 And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want.
15 And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine.
16 And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him."
We are living and playing in God's Garden. God is a Good, GOOD FATHER. Jesus teaches just how GOOD God is in His parable of The Prodigal Son. Recorded here in the Gospel of Luke, chapter fifteen, we know the The Father in this illustration is God. The younger son is like the children of God who run away from Him. All too often we WASTE years of our lives AWAY from God's house. We choose the "RIOTOUS living" that our culture and society offers. It all comes at a great cost. In this parable it costs the younger son literally everything he has.
In today's verses, the younger son is there jealous of the slop he is feeding to pigs! "And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want. And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him." Have you ever found yourself so hungry that you would eat the feed being fed to animals? And, specifically animals that you detest, the way Jewish people feel about pigs. By all accounts pigs are filthy beasts and their eating would be particularly repulsive. Yet, this young man's reached the BOTTOM, that is so low, even the pigs eating looks good to him.
Now, that is low.
