Ecclesiastes 3:1-8
1 To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven:
2 A time to be born, and a time to die; a time to plant, and a time to pluck up that which is planted;
3 A time to kill, and a time to heal; a time to break down, and a time to build up;
4 A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance;
5 A time to cast away stones, and a time to gather stones together; a time to embrace, and a time to refrain from embracing;
6 A time to get, and a time to lose; a time to keep, and a time to cast away;
7 A time to rend, and a time to sew; a time to keep silence, and a time to speak;
8 A time to love, and a time to hate; a time of war, and a time of peace."
We are living and playing in God's Garden. God is very generous in providing us many different fruits and vegetables for us to enjoy. This week we want to study thyme. Thyme is a delightful herb with a pleasant, pungent, clover flavor. Often used in cooking. There are over fifty varieties with different fragrances and flavors. French and English thyme are used most to add a savory note to summer soups, grilled meats, and vegetables.
Thyme is not only delicious, it is also an attractive plant that is drought-friendly and is also pollinator-friendly! The plant's flowers attract bees! Thyme also boasts a slew of helpful medicinal qualities: fighting acne, lowering blood pressure, helping to alleviate cough, boosting immunity, aromatherapy, boosting mood, preventing bacterial infections, helping to treat yeast infections, possibly helping against certain types of cancer and more. Quality thyme makes everything better.
Thyme reminds us of our own quality TIME and what it means to us. We are going to study time this week. Today we read the quintessential verses from Holy Scriptures about time; Ecclesiastes chapter three, verse one through eight. These verse written by King Solomon express the ebb and flow of time better than anyone at anytime. "a TIME to every purpose under the heaven:"
