Mark 5:40 & 41
"40 And they laughed Him to scorn. But when He had put them all out, He taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with Him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying.
41 And He took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, arise."
"Be not afraid, ONLY BELIEVE."
Jesus said to Jiarus. Jiarus found Jesus hoping He would heal his sick daughter. Only she died before Jesus could get to her. Jiarus was willing to risk his reputation and his livelihood to save her life.
Jiarus brought Jesus and three of the Disciples to his home. All the people living here are deeply tied to the synagogue where Jiarus is a leader. This would be like a prominent Democrat bringing Donald Trump to their home; it's creating a very volatile situation! They are not welcoming to Jesus and they are racked with grief. The brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends are all there and loosing their minds that this precious young girl has died.
When Jesus arrived He asked the group; Why are you CRYING? "The damsel is NOT DEAD, but sleepeth." Jesus looks at death differently than we do. He knows DEATH will NOT be the end of life! In today's verses we read that the people did NOT like Jesus' question one bit; "And they LAUGHED Him to SCORN. But when He had put them all out, He taketh the father and the mother of the damsel, and them that were with Him, and entereth in where the damsel was lying. And He took the damsel by the hand, and said unto her, Talitha cumi; which is, being interpreted, Damsel, I say unto thee, ARISE."
ARISE!
