Genesis 25:19-21
"19 And these are the generations of Isaac, Abraham's son: Abraham begat Isaac:
20 And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padanaram, the sister to Laban the Syrian.
21 And Isaac intreated the LORD for his wife, because she was barren: and the LORD was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife conceived."
Last week we began our multi-week study of young people in the Holy Scriptures, titled "Children of the Heavenly Father." Last week was "A Child Like Faith." We studied how Jesus' message is for ALL AGES!!! And, Heaven is all of us with a childlike heart.
Today we begin a study on SIBLING RIVALRY. Sibling rivalry plays out over a lifetime. And can become multi-generational. It can hurt everyone involved. It is all too common and part of the history of our FAITH. We will learn from the pages of Genesis, chapter twenty-five, starting with verse nineteen; "And these are the generations of Isaac, Abraham's son: Abraham begat Isaac: And Isaac was forty years old when he took Rebekah to wife, the daughter of Bethuel the Syrian of Padanaram, the sister to Laban the Syrian. And Isaac intreated the LORD for his wife, because she was barren: and the LORD was intreated of him, and Rebekah his wife CONCEIVED."
Abraham is often considered the Father of FAITH. It is his son Isaac and his wife Rebekah who have Jacob who is renamed Israel and has the sons who became the twelve tribes of the Jewish people. Jacob also had a twin brother and they were SIBLING RIVALS.
